Teaching Philosophy
Music is a lifelong passion, and my goal is to guide each student in discovering their unique voice through the art of music. With over 40 years of teaching experience, I strive to balance structure and joy, and discipline and creativity in every lesson.
Rooted in the Royal Conservatory of Music and enriched by programs like MYC, Yamaha, and Starwood Montessori, my approach builds strong technical and musical foundations. I guide students in effective, mindful practice, helping set goals, listen critically, and enjoy steady progress.
Above all, I aim to nurture confidence, curiosity, and a lifelong love of music that extends far beyond the piano.
Biography
With over 40 years of teaching experience, I have had the privilege of guiding hundreds of students of all ages and levels—from absolute beginners to college-bound musicians. My teaching background includes extensive experience with programs such as Music for Young Children (MYC), Yamaha Music Education, Starwood Montessori, and The Real School of Music. Drawing from the Royal Conservatory of Music curriculum, I emphasize strong musicianship through solid technique, theoretical understanding, and expressive performance. I was also privileged to study under two renowned concert pianists and pedagogues—Leon Karan and Marina Mdivani—whose Russian and Georgian traditions of musical excellence continue to shape and inspire my teaching today.
I am deeply passionate about nurturing each student’s individual potential and creating a joyful, supportive environment where music learning feels natural and inspiring. Over the decades, I’ve watched my students grow not only as pianists, but as confident, creative individuals who carry their love of music throughout their lives.
