Teaching Philosophy:
The world is filled with colors, so why can’t we find the color of music through the piano. There are so many stories that music tells without words. Piano has great emotions, characters, and complexity that are intertwined. I encourage my students to explore the unknown and make music with the understanding of what it can mean to them and whose hearts they can touch. Playing piano not for oneself for its sole purpose but to share the experience with other family, friends and strangers along the way. I aspire to teach my students these concepts to help them grow in the musical world and as a musician for years to come.
Biography:
Jacob Gonzalez was born in Kingsville, Texas. I grew up not as a musician but to pursue psychology in college. After one semester I began to take my first piano lessons in 2020 before COVID-19 and didn’t know how to read music but auditioned anyway despite the odds of getting into the School of Music at Texas A&M University Kingsville at my current level. Through the years I worked hard to envision what I wanted to accomplish. I performed and accompanied with the choir, voice recitals, string recitals, and solo piano in the studio piano recitals. It was a struggle to play catch up through my years but I was able to play my junior recital in 2024 and later in 2026 to play my senior recital for solo piano. In that time for my undergraduate degree, I started teaching in 2022 for a desire to help people understand the joys of music in any era.
